NATIONAL GALLERY 200
SHORTLISTED COMPETITION

ARCHITECTURE INSTITUTIONAL CRITIQUE

How to manifest instutional reform and ambition through architecture? This is one of the key explorations for this shortlisted proposal for the retrofit of the Sainsbury’s Wing at the National Gallery.

Through critiquing the existing experience of visitors at the National Gallery, a series of bold design responses were developed that prioritised the access of art above all. From an contremporary gallery doubling as security triage to a dramatic new triple height publc gallery - visitors would be able to experience the galleries collection through new curatorial forms.
